I am so glad that i found this website. I was diagnose in Oct 2010 with ovarian cancer and was staged at 1c but after 6 months of chemo and deblking they reallized that i was staged incorrectly. I am actually a stage 111c. I was devasted and then they told me that i needed more chemo. I just finished my 4th treatmnt and had a reaction to the coplatin so they said that there will be no more chemo for 3 months. I would like to find a group that i can attend. God bless you all. This a difficult fight but I plan to beat it. I have a 12 year i would like to see grow up.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage4 july 2009. My ca-125 was over 600 before surgery. Had to have complete hysterectomy and my slpeen was removed as well.- I didn’t know you could live without your spleen.- After surgery my ca-125 was 208 . After 6 months of chemo every week my ca-125 is now 12 and i am in remission. So far so good. Thank the lord!

After nearly a 7 year battle, I just lost my mother to Ovarian Cancer. Mom was very active in OCAF Volusia/Flagler County and at her request before leaving this earth, Mom asked me to step in her place. It is an extreme honor to join this group and I am so much enjoying the new friendships with all of my Mom’s “teal ladies”. I only hope and pray that I can make a difference somehow. Thank you for all you do. Together, I know we can take a stand and beat this disease!

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3C and had my surgery on Sept 10 2009. I am getting chemo and have only 2 treatments left. I hope this is all I have to have. I am worried as I have a 12 yr old girl and I want to see her grow up and go to college and get married and. I just worry if the carboplatin and taxo is working to kill this. My ca-125 when diagnosed was 364 then after surgery it went to 25 then after 1st chemo, down to 11 now only 10 I feel it should have gone down lower. Also still healing from surgery trying to get incision to heal it is very stubborn It has gotten smaller though.I got a post op infection in my staples. I wonder alot of how long I will live and that haunts me and also will it come back?I need alot of prayers thanks for this website.God Bless all of us!!!!!!!!

Ihave recently been diagnosed with stage IIIC Ovarian cancer. Ihad a totalhysterectmoy and beklking procedure in late July. I just started my 4th cycle of IV Taxol and IP Cisplatin and IP Taxol. So far my CA-125 prior to surgery was over 25,000 and after the third cycle it is now only 147.8. I am pleased that the protocol is working as chemo is a living hell. I have neuropathy and other side effects. I keep my spirits high because I know I will win this battle. I was hoping to find a local support group as my family is wonderful but I need to talk to others going through this.

This is a fabulous website. I have a very dear friend who had ovarian cancer and braved this horrible disease. She is an outstanding advocate, for a cure for Ovarian Cancer. And, I have loved ones who have fought the battle of their life against cancer. My mom succumbed to pancreatic cancer but only after a hard fought battle. Sort of like Patrick Swayze. She was 81 and one of the bravest people I have ever known. My sister is currently fighting for her life, from breast cancer, the second time around . She is another of my heroes as is my mom and my friend Marsha. Football players, and movie stars are not heroes. (although I enjoy watching both) Those who face head on the “C” word are our heroes. How frightenting it must be. Hats off to all of you. I pray every day for a cure for all cancer. Prayer is powerful. Join me. Mama, Judy, and Marsha, you all have made a difference and I love you all to infinity.

Would have liked to have brought her along, but she’s recovering from another bowel resection for cancerous adhesions. She is the toughest woman i know. We will definately make this a yearly event…i hope to be able to run it next yr!!!!

Hey, really good site and best of luck!

I received a children’s book in the mail that helps children come to terms with a parents cancer. It’s aimed at younger children and is both thoughtful , warm hearted and even get’s the kids to help out more around the house. The author Linda McCowan is also the illustrator and you can buy her book “Cancer Rhymes with Dancer” by going to her website at http://www.cancerrhymeswithdancer.com.

My kids read it and loved the illustrations, several which are shared on that author’s site. Mel Wilson

My girlfriend (in Germany) of 42 years passed away on Jan. 31 2008 of ovarian cancer, dispite me preaching to her of all the symptoms, being a 6 year survivor myself. Was misdiagnozed for many months until it was too late. Socialized medical care cannot compare to what we have in the USA. Costly yes, but is there a price for survival?

am a 4 year survivor of stage 3c ovarian cancer. I had an optimal reduction and 8 cycles of carbo and taxol. I am currently in a 5 year clinical trial at Moffit in Tampa for a drug called OvaRex. It is a monoclonal antibody. I have had no recurrences and am lucky to have had the best of everything (care, support, etc.)during my surgeries and treatments. This is a great website. I wish there was an organization like this near me that I could get involved with and volunteer with.

My dearest friend Patty Sebast lost her couragous battle against oc last night October 3, 2006. Ironically enough, she died on Teal Tuesday - I began this about 3 weeks ago - maybe others would be interested. Every Tuesday, I and anyone else interested wears teal in honor of Patty and all of the other women facing oc and to raise awareness of this disease. Do you ever come to the Bradenton area?

I’m 57 and am fighting my battle undergoing treatment at Florida Hospital Cancer Inst. for ovarian cancer, diagnosed on 5/31/06. I want to help get the word out about the need for better testing. I especially think it’s necessary for doctors and patients to have a better awareness of the CA125 test regarding the high percentage of false readings. 18 months ago a cyst was found, I went for the ultrasound, had the CA125. My doctor’s office called and said the test came back negative. I thought I was good to go until my next annual gyn visit. Then the cyst had grown to a mass, the CA125 still came back negative. My husband decided to do a little research on the CA125 then, and found that yes, it is the only test available, but that it had far from accurate results. Surgery revealed the nasty truth. I thought I had done everything right, but if I had known more about the CA125 I would have had additional discussion with my doctor at the time of the first test and asked to see a gyn oncologist for a further opinion. Now, I’m a stage 3c and fighting for my life. I want to win this battle, and I believe God has a plan for me in this to spread the word. More information needs to be given on the ovarian cancer websites, and info pamphlets should be available to anyone prescribed to have the CA125 test. So, how can I help to get the word out? Of course, I’d love to hear from anyone who is a survivor from this stage, or who is going thru treatment now, and hear about how you won or plan to overcome this disease. I’ll look forward to being an active member of the OCAF.
