Hello:
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in 2007, had a full hysterectomy and went through chemo in 2208, 2009 and 2010. I am currently on a research drug called Olaparib because I had a bad reaction during my chemo in July of 2010. I am on medical leave at the moment because of my chemo brain and some other side effects.
If anyone has advice on how to work towards remission, I would appreciate it. I would also like to be involved with your organization.
Thank you.

I had a 20lb tumor (the size of a soccer ball) removed from my abdomen and a full hysterectomy in July 2010. A few weeks later on August 6, 2010 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Ovarian Cancer and that I would go through 6 chemotherapy cycles of carbo/taxol. I thought my life was over. Fortunately, I was blessed with a fantastic health team.
On November 5, 2010 I was informed that my CA-125 was 8. My 5th chemo, I had a severe allergic reaction but I will continue to have my final cycle next week.
I was introduced to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida by my nurse with a gift bag full of information and a few goodies. It has been such a blessing as I have been able to share much of the information I’ve learned on this website with my family and friends.
Thank you Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida. I look forward to becoming an Ovarian Cancer advocate and getting the word out there.

I am so glad that i found this website. I was diagnose in Oct 2010 with ovarian cancer and was staged at 1c but after 6 months of chemo and deblking they reallized that i was staged incorrectly. I am actually a stage 111c. I was devasted and then they told me that i needed more chemo. I just finished my 4th treatmnt and had a reaction to the coplatin so they said that there will be no more chemo for 3 months. I would like to find a group that i can attend. God bless you all. This a difficult fight but I plan to beat it. I have a 12 year i would like to see grow up.

After nearly a 7 year battle, I just lost my mother to Ovarian Cancer. Mom was very active in OCAF Volusia/Flagler County and at her request before leaving this earth, Mom asked me to step in her place. It is an extreme honor to join this group and I am so much enjoying the new friendships with all of my Mom’s “teal ladies”. I only hope and pray that I can make a difference somehow. Thank you for all you do. Together, I know we can take a stand and beat this disease!

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3C and had my surgery on Sept 10 2009. I am getting chemo and have only 2 treatments left. I hope this is all I have to have. I am worried as I have a 12 yr old girl and I want to see her grow up and go to college and get married and. I just worry if the carboplatin and taxo is working to kill this. My ca-125 when diagnosed was 364 then after surgery it went to 25 then after 1st chemo, down to 11 now only 10 I feel it should have gone down lower. Also still healing from surgery trying to get incision to heal it is very stubborn It has gotten smaller though.I got a post op infection in my staples. I wonder alot of how long I will live and that haunts me and also will it come back?I need alot of prayers thanks for this website.God Bless all of us!!!!!!!!

Ihave recently been diagnosed with stage IIIC Ovarian cancer. Ihad a totalhysterectmoy and beklking procedure in late July. I just started my 4th cycle of IV Taxol and IP Cisplatin and IP Taxol. So far my CA-125 prior to surgery was over 25,000 and after the third cycle it is now only 147.8. I am pleased that the protocol is working as chemo is a living hell. I have neuropathy and other side effects. I keep my spirits high because I know I will win this battle. I was hoping to find a local support group as my family is wonderful but I need to talk to others going through this.

This is a fabulous website. I have a very dear friend who had ovarian cancer and braved this horrible disease. She is an outstanding advocate, for a cure for Ovarian Cancer. And, I have loved ones who have fought the battle of their life against cancer. My mom succumbed to pancreatic cancer but only after a hard fought battle. Sort of like Patrick Swayze. She was 81 and one of the bravest people I have ever known. My sister is currently fighting for her life, from breast cancer, the second time around . She is another of my heroes as is my mom and my friend Marsha. Football players, and movie stars are not heroes. (although I enjoy watching both) Those who face head on the “C” word are our heroes. How frightenting it must be. Hats off to all of you. I pray every day for a cure for all cancer. Prayer is powerful. Join me. Mama, Judy, and Marsha, you all have made a difference and I love you all to infinity.

Just participated in the 1st annual teal ribbon run and it was awesome!!! My husband and i walked for his mom Mary who is currently battling ovarian cancer. Would have liked to have brought her along, but she’s recovering from another bowel resection for cancerous adhesions. She is the toughest woman i know. We will definately make this a yearly event…i hope to be able to run it next yr!!!!

Hey, really good site and best of luck!

I received a children’s book in the mail that helps children come to terms with a parents cancer. It’s aimed at younger children and is both thoughtful , warm hearted and even get’s the kids to help out more around the house. The author Linda McCowan is also the illustrator and you can buy her book “Cancer Rhymes with Dancer” by going to her website at http://www.cancerrhymeswithdancer.com.

My kids read it and loved the illustrations, several which are shared on that author’s site. Mel Wilson

My girlfriend (in Germany) of 42 years passed away on Jan. 31 2008 of ovarian cancer, dispite me preaching to her of all the symptoms, being a 6 year survivor myself. Was misdiagnozed for many months until it was too late. Socialized medical care cannot compare to what we have in the USA. Costly yes, but is there a price for survival?
