Six Steps for a Successful Team
The Plan: A letter writing and/or email campaign is one of the most effective AND easiest ways to raise money for the Teal Ribbon Run (TRR) The average letter-writing campaign raises $1000! Get all of your team members involved. Simply draft a “Dear family and friends” letter/email explaining why you and your group are participating in the TRR. You will reach your largest audience without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home!
Step 1 – Develop Your Mailing List
Sit down with your address book, Blackberry, Treo, what ever and list all of the people likely to support your endeavors. The larger the distribution list, the larger your results.
Make it friendly and conversational. Need some tips?
Start by explaining your connection to ovarian cancer.
Explain that there is no test for ovarian cancer.
Discuss what OCAF is doing with its community outreach.
End your letter by telling people how they can help.
If you email, all you have to do is press the send button. Don’t forget to send reminders! That will give people time to spread the word to family, co-workers and friends about the Teal Ribbon Run.
Make sure all checks are made payable to Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida or OCAF.
On walk day, bring the money you have raised and collected with you. OCAF staff and volunteers will be on hand to gratefully accept your pledges and donations.
Step 6 – Thank Your Supporters!
After the walk is over be sure to acknowledge everyone who donated. A thank you note is always appreciated.
